I’ve
already attributed a token to Edkins WV1341A25 (Island Creek Stores Co., Holden, W.Va., 25¢) via TokenCatalog.com’s TC-511378 entry — obverse “ISLAND CREEK STORES CO. / 25 / HOLDEN, W.VA.” with an “IC” cutout, reverse “INS. CREDIT SYSTEM DAYTON, O. / 25 / PAT’D JUNE ’19 / PAYABLE IN MDSE. ONLY.”
I’m specifically hoping someone with the current 4th Edition Edkins Catalogue (Vol. II, West Virginia) on hand can tell me the rarity rating it lists for 1341A25.
For context: I searched fairly extensively online and TokenCatalog was the only place I could find this specific piece pictured or listed at all. The other Island Creek/Holden denominations (1¢, 5¢, 10¢) show up fairly often in auction records and sold listings, but I haven’t been able to find a single comp or prior sale for the 25¢ specifically — which is what has me curious about its rarity relative to the other denominations in this series.
